Special Operations Response Team

The Fayetteville Police Department utilizes a Special Operations Response Team (SORT) that has the responsibility of responding to any high-risk situations that may arise. The SORT team is comprised of Tactical Members, Snipers, Canine, a Crisis Negotiator and Tactical Medics.

The SORT team performs monthly training exercises that consist of tactical building entry, vehicle containment and entry, room clearing, chemical weapons training, firing range exercises, equipment maintenance,  response time and other exercises to enhance their effectiveness.

Our SORT team works closely with our school and health systems, local businesses and churches to gain access to buildings for training. This allows team members to become more familiar with building layout, access and exit points.
