This data includes addressing, parcels, zoning, floodplain analysis, geospatial mapping & analysis, public map services, citizen reporting tools, and much more. The GIS department works in conjunction to share geospatial data between the City and county governments to work together on future projects. The GIS department also works with the Administration, Planning & Codes, Public Works, and IT departments to provide solutions for new services.
What is GIS?

The GIS department accomplishes these goals by using the ArcGIS software suite, created by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). ESRI is one most reputable geospatial companies in the United States, with ArcGIS as one of the most widely used GIS software tools that is utilized by the state and federal governments for geospatial analysis and mapping. The ArcGIS suite offers specifically tailored solutions to municipalities and local governments, providing the best tools for new and existing map development. In 2016, the City of Fayetteville and Lincoln County government entered a joint partnership agreement with ESRI to have access to higher level tools as part of a custom suite to suit our specific needs. This agreement gives our citizens the most accurate data available for planning and industrial growth.

GIS as a service provides citizens with accurate data for community development, giving industries and organizations the tools they need to expand and grow in our city. As more data is collected and analyzed, new solutions for urban development and strategic growth can be implemented as the City of Fayetteville works to improve our community. By providing accurate real-time data, we can expect to see faster development cycles and more public services improve our community.
